Thank you for your interest in joining BSBI Synagogue. Please review the membership categories below. All membership categories include free high holidays seats.

College Membership

$18/year while in college

Includes free Shabbat dinners at Synagogue Events, subscription to “The Messenger,” and weekly e-mails.

* This does not include voting or burial rights

Introductory Membership

$118 single | $200 couple | $300 family
Age 25 or under

Includes one free Shabbat dinner at the synagogue per year, a subscription to “The Messenger,” and weekly e-mails. If the member decided to become a full member, dues already paid can be applied towards the outstanding dues and building fund.

* Limit of two years. This does not include voting or burial rights

Single Membership

$825/year age 35+ *
$590/year age 34 or under *

Includes full privileges, voting rights, burial rights and subscription to “The Messenger.”

* Plus Building Fund Assessment: $1,200.00 payable in 5 yearly installments of $240.00

Family Membership

$1500/year age 35+ *
$980/year age 34 or under *

Includes full privileges, voting rights, burial rights and subscription to “The Messenger.”

Associate Single Membership

$432/year age 35+
$262/year age 34 or under

This category is open to non-residents of the Charleston area and to area residents who are regular members of another Charleston Shul.

Associate Family Membership

$756/year age 35+
$466/year age 34 or under

This category is open to non-residents of the Charleston area and to area residents who are regular members of another Charleston Shul.

Contributor

$250/year

Includes subscription to “The Messenger.”

Honorary Membership

No fixed dues, although contributions are certainly welcome. This category will be offered to certain individuals and families who by their positive contributions to the Jewish Community, are deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee. Suggestions for members in this category may be submitted, in writing, to the President, by any officer of the Shul. There are no requirements for this category of membership. Includes recognition as an Honorary member and subscription to “The
Messenger” (upon request).
